Signed 8″ x 10″ glossy photo of General Robert L. Eichelberger & General Douglas MacArthur reviewing the 4th of July Parade on the Imperial Palace grounds in Tokyo, Japan. The photo is dated July 4th, 1947 on the back. The photo is signed by General Robert L. Eichelberger and has a personal message to the recipient of the photo. Photo is in nice condition with light wear on the surface and near the edges of the photo.

General Robert L. Eichelberger – A 1909 graduate of United States Military Academy at West Point. He saw service in Panama, the Mexican border and in Siberia as part of the American Expeditionary Forces Siberia in 1918. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for repeated acts of bravery in Siberia. He later became the Secretary of the War Department General Staff and worked for the Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General Douglas MacArthur. In August 1942, Eichelberger was sent to the Southwest pacific Area where he led American and Australian troops in the Battle of Buna-Gona. He was the Commanding General of the newly formed Eighth Army and led the invasion of the Southern Philippine Islands of Mindoro, Marinduque, Panay, Negros, Cebu and Bohol. Eichelberger’s Eighth Army also served a three year stint as part of the Occupation Japan after WWII.

General Douglas MacArthur – American five-star general. He was the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army during the 1930’s and played a prominent role in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He officially accepted Japan’s surrender on September 2,1945 aboard the USS Missouri. He also oversaw the occupation of Japan from 1945 to 1951.
