22nd ARMY CORPS, 1ST DIVISION FLAG

G.A.R. HALL OR NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT USE

  • This 22nd Army Corps flag is 18.5″x 25.”
  • It was probably made in the 1890-1900 era.
  • The corps badge design is two-sided, sewn on with two rows of zig-zag stitching.  There is also an inner accent stitching.
  • Overall condition is fine, with some soiling, water staining, and light staining of red dye.  Some very minor mothing (with a few larger about 1/4″ holes).  Would look much better cleaned.
  • This is one of a group that had come from a military museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  • It seems more than logical that the lot was used to decorate a G.A.R. hall or flown at National (and State) Encampments.
  • The 22nd Corps was part of the Department of Washington.
