Signed on the post card image of the USS Virginia, when Winslow commanded the 3rd Division, Atlantic Fleet.
This newspaper clipping with this autographed post card says it all, “Rear Admiral Cameron McRae Winslow, USN, Retired, one of the heroes of the Spanish American War……..was cited for bravery in cutting a cable line in the harbor of a Cuban port.” Lieutenant Winslow, wounded in the hand, maintained command during this action, and all the sailors involved were awarded the Medal of Honor.
This color photogravure post card, shows the USS Virginia, and Winslow has signed that image, making note of his command, as well as full signature with rank. A personalize printed label glued to the lower front of the card, indicates it coming direct from Winslow’s office.
This Raphael Tuck post card is addressed to a William D. Waudby in Washington, D.C., with an applied shipboard mail cancelation from the USS Virginia, dated Nov. 3, 1912.
The signature is very good, and boldly written.
