Description
This carte de Visite image was taken by Alexander Gardner of the 17th President of the United States, Andrew Johnson (1808-1875). This was the newly sworn in president’s first official seating following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
The back mark shows the Capital building, and a cancelled Revenue Stamp.
Condition is very good, with the mount have very slightly clipped corners.
A desirable image for this most embattled president.
