Young men and women playing cribbage in a photographers studio.
Four young ladies and three young gentlemen are either playing cribbage or looking on, while W. Pierce, Photographer, Brunswick, Maine takes the picture in a studio in this dated Sept. 1st, 1866 image. The woman on the far right front has the cribbage board on her lap, as those around her await their turn to play a card. One gent in the center rear, with arm over his pal, offers an ace in view of camera.
I don’t know how scarce it is for an image to capture a game of cribbage being played, but must be somewhat scarce, as well as the larger group being photographed as well.
Image quality and condition are very good. The photographers back mark is somewhat covered in an autograph, and light soiling overall, mostly on the reverse.
