Rebecca Law, a 13 year old young lady from the Bloomington, Illinois area had her photograph taken sometime in the 1860s by Addison Pancake and Deaf Mute Photographer, Bloomington, Illinois. She is clothed in a simple pattern of dress that appears to lend some color, hair combed, and wearing the look of boredom or perhaps impatience. Her name and age are written below on the mount. The same hand wrote the name “Mr. Cyrus Hickernell” on the reverse, probably the intended recipient.
The photograph was taken by Addison Pancake, (1844-1900) a deaf mute man who made is living as a photographer. Pancake was also a student in the Illinois School for the Deaf.
Some minor soiling, and good quality and condition.
