This image captures the effects of bomb damage on a street in St. Mihiel, France during WWI. The buildings are a combination of business at street level and apartments above; and it would appear with the damage shown, the business and living space has been vacated.
The photo was taken presumably by an American soldier, as on the negative he misspells St. Mihiel and corrects it there.
The Battle of St. Mihiel was begun on September 12, 1918 and was an Allied victory, comprising the American Expeditionary and French forces.
Condition and photo quality is very good.
