Signed Photo of Lieutenant General Raymond A. Wheeler. The photo appears to be affixed to a piece of heavy paper and has some areas of discoloration across the top of the photo. The photo is signed and addressed by “Speck” Wheeler to a Captain Tom Scott. The matte photo measures approx. 8″ x 10″.

 

Lieutenant General Raymond A. Wheeler – Graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1911. He participated in the construction of the Panama Canal and worked on other engineering projects in Mexico with General Douglas MacArthur, who was then a captain in the Corps of Engineers. Wheeler fought in France during WWI and was awarded the Silver Star and Distinguished Service Medal for his service. In WWII he was appointed to the South East Asian Command (SEAC) and served as the principal administrative officer and directed construction of the Ledo Road. He was also the United States’ representative in August 1945 at the Japanese surrender in Singapore.
