This is a wartime 7×9 photo by the ACME NEWSPICTURE, INC., CO. ,  entitled “Ike Gives Christmas Message.” A soldier representing each of the Allied nations was called to hear Ike, and to take back to their units the Supreme Commander’s Christmas message to the troops.

The attached printed description, mentions several American by name. The British soldier in the fore ground wears the SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces) shoulder sleeve insignia, and very well have been the designated Jeep driver for the commanding general.

The photo was released on 12/28/44.  A red ink stamp on the reverse indicates the AMCE Newsphoto as source.
