Sword scabbards are sometimes made of leather and can be brittle. If you do not know how to handle a sword, serious damage could result in the process of inspecting it. Grasp the scabbard by the throat, allowing the body of the scabbard to hang in a vertical position and pull the blade from the scabbard. This way, the scabbard will remain in one piece.
