Description

1/4 Plate Tintype Attributed To Leroy S. Hollis, Co K 4th Mass Cavalry.

Leroy S. Hollis had a short 3 months with the 4th Mass. Infantry, mustering out in July of 1861, and joining the 1st Mass Cavalry on September 23, 1861, as a private into Co. K.  He transferred out on February 12, 1864 to the 4th Mass. Cavalry.

During his time in service he had achieved the rank of corporal and sergeant.  He wears a nine button jacket, similar to what the unit’s bandsmen wore.

The image shows some dings, and wrinkling, but appears to have been in this frame for some time.  Id’d on the back in ink on adhesive label.

Good condition, and priced for what it is.
