Description

This contract July 1942, ’41 service dress coat was worn by a PFC from the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division. He has unfortunately not placed his name anywhere to be found.  The coat both US and infantry discs, both clutch back, the DUI’s are Italian made (unmarked), look similar to the German types made after the war, but the 34th finished its war service in Italy. Both show normal light wear with no chipping to the enamel.  The CIB is Sterling marked, clutch back, Ribbon bars are WWII Victory, Good Conduct, EAME with 3 campaign stars (Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley), the arrangement is as found.

The 34th ID patch is a great example of Italian made insignia; red silk threads in multiple directions, on black wool, and silver bullion border, all in fine condition.  PFC are quite possibly Italian made as well, with a heavy cotton twill pattern, and 4 overseas stripes on the cuff.

I don’t see any mothing on the coat.

A chocolate OD Garrison cap with blue piping, leather sweatband and size label (7 1/8) has a small Italian made 34th ID pin mounted on the right side of the cap. Cap has some light fading, but very good – fine.

A Hotel Billinghurst, Birghamton, N.Y. “LUX Toilet Soap” wrapper in pocket.

A nice representative uniform with several Theater Made elements.
