1831 Letter To The Sec of War – Wife Pleading The Discharge of Her Husband In 5th Infantry. This letter dated Boston, 21 June, 1831, was written by Timothy Fuller, a state representative from Mass. to the Secretary of War, John H. Eaton, representing the appeal of Mrs. Sarah B. Simonds seeking the discharge of her husband who was stationed at Fort Mackinac, Michigan.  I believe the letter is clear enough to read.  The appeal was ultimately forwarded to General Alexander McComb, then the commanding general of the army for the final decision.  Some research will be needed to conclude the outcome.

Attached is the stampless cover with round -red circle date stamp from Boston, and sent using his free franking privilege to the Sec. of war.  Written in red ink was either Eaton, or a clerk, noting the information was forwarded to Gen, McComb, on June 25.

There is a repair at the center fold using acid free tape.

A nice period letter and contents, with more researching to due.  Transcript included, with a bio on Fuller.
