Description
1851 Eagle Belt Plate – Sterling Hallmarked. The hallmark appears to read, “O.B & M/ STERLING” and marked on the hook.
This plate is stamped, and the belt loop (also in sterling) does not like strong enough to be for military use, but perhaps a ladies patriotic belt plate which were popular during the Civil War. Not knowing the makers, I can’t specifically pin this down to a certain period of time other than the plate itself. It could be also a fancy G.A.R. or W.R.C. piece.
High quality belt plate. 3 inches long
Not showing hardly any wear.
Excellent.
