Description
This lock was made by Samuel Norris & W.T. Clement of Springfield, Mass, who had an 1861 contract for several thousand muskets for the State of Massachusetts. The contract was fulfilled from 1863-64, and hammers were made in the ’63 pattern.
This is a complete, functioning lock, with an untouched patina over smooth metal, with hardly any pitting visible on the outside surfaces. The eagle strike is weak at the center, but not due to wear.
Bridle and sear screws have been filed to fit lock cavity.
Overall fine condition.
