Description
1874 Haversack & Chambers Sling. These haversacks where also used in conjunction with the Palmer Brace System which utilized two of these bags, this type that carried the 1874 Meat Can and the other known as the clothing bag. When used off the brace, the Chamber’s sling was used. These are a lightweight canvas sling with leather tabs for attaching to the buckles on the haversack, and also has a brass adjustment slide.
Faint marking for Watervliet Arsenal stamped on the back. Also a hard to see soldier’s initials written on the front and back as well.
