Id’d to “CO L 29” and probably 29 is the equipment number belonging to this soldier.
This is a nice example of the type 2 1876 prairie belt with the 1881 modification of adding 3 rings for hanging equipment. Produced at Watervliet Arsenal, and stamped such along with the inspector’s stamp “A.R. SMITH” on the leather tongue. 54 loops that hold .45/70 cartridges. Stitching and canvas are in fine condition.
Unit marked with light blue stencil on the back side, ” Co. L : 29.”
