A iron clip with diamonds within rows, used for suspending a sword from belt.
A finely crafted European military accoutrement, made of iron, incorporates a repeated diamond theme within multiple rows on this small sword belt clip. The clip is slightly curved to conform to the waist, and has a large clip that goes over a belt. The clip is just under 3 inches and 1 1/8 inch wide. The entire clip is approximately 5 inches in length.
Most likely cast then finished by hand. There are no markings.
Missing the iron chain hangers and snaps that would connect the small sword.
Circa- Mid 18th Century to 1790s.
Nice untouched iron patina. A scarce 18th sword accoutrement.
