A very scarce insignia for field artillery with the winged hoof insignia for the veterinarians.
The veterinarian corps was attached to the mounted services until becoming part of the medical corps in 1917. The winged shoed hoof is applied here to this 1902 pattern field artillery officer’s collar insignia. His is one piece construction, and has a pin back with open catch in place of the usual sew-on loops common to this manufacturer.
From the Robert Borrell Artillery Collection.
