Used from 1902-1905, this field artillery officer’s insignia is a scarce insignia.
1902 Field Artillery Officer’s Saddle Cloth Insignia of this pattern with the enamel wheel was used until 1905; after that just the crossed cannon insignia was used, while the coast artillery continued to use the “shell” in the center of the crossed cannons.
This insignia is a cast brass measuring 3 1/4 inches wide, and gilt finished. The wheel is surrounded by red enameling.
Four mounting loops are on the reverse; no markings.
A fine example.
