1912 2nd Prize Class B Shooting Badge, 8th Co. C.A.C. MVM


This Pre-WWI shooting medal for the 8th Co. Massachusetts Coast Artillery was awarded to Private William A. Connolly for 2nd Prize in the 1912 Annual Shoot.

The front of the gold-filled medal has an applied Mass. Vol. Militia insignia with blue enamel.

The ribbon-bar has an applied mini C.A.C. insignia and is engraved “2nd Prize, Class B” along with an attached mini infantry insignia hanging below signifying the medal is a rifle shooting award.

The artillery red ribbon is beginning to come apart at its mid-section.

The back of the medal is engraved with the event and date and Private Connolly’s score of 38.

The stamped makers mark “BENT & BUSH CO., GOLD FILLED” is found below.

The overall condition is Very good / Fine with light wear, marks and tarnish on the gold finish of the medal and bar.

The ribbon shows heavier wear, fading, and blemishes and has a tear that runs halfway across the middle.
