Rattan construction cap made by U.S. Speciality Co., New York.
A hard to find 1912 officer’s summer cap mad of white cotton cover, and white mohair banding. Black leather visor, and thin gilt chinstrap. The unmarked eagle insignia had been rounded, giving a thinner look.
The body is made of rattan, and in white cotton from the sides back, blue wool forward from 1 inch behind end of visor around the front. Most likely this hat was fitted with a dress cover as well.
The interior is very good, with a full leather sweatband, marked “U.S. Speciality Co., New York.” Size 7 label. There is soiling on the lower areas of the interior.
Soiling and a few stains on outer cover.
