Description
This badge appears to be a period piece, or not much later, showing some age to the cardboard backing, some light soiling, etc. Made of red velvet with false embroidered number, and a very tiny twisted gilt wire border. There are a few remnants of thread showing it was sew on, either to a cap or uniform.
Red signifies assignment in the 1st Division of the 6th AC, and the symbol being the Greek Cross. A hard fought army corps of the Army of the Potomac during the war.
