Description
88th Infantry Division- Blue Devil Division DUI. This is a variant from what is normally seen; red enamel used around the border of the Blue Devil square panel in the upper section of the insignia. A smaller insignia that the others encounter in this just post Cold War era. The pin back is different from the usual Italy open loop catch pin backs. This on has a pin attachment similar to American, etc. manufacture with the open “C” catch.
Worn by 88th Division troops protecting Italy and Trieste against Yugoslavia in the earliest US military actions in the Cold War against Communist under Tito’s Yugoslavian troops 1946-47.
Reads at the lower panel, “88 BLUE DEVIL DIVISION,” In blue enamel. No hallmark.
