This is another rare distinctive unit insignia for the Coast Defenses of Savannah, which was no longer use by the Army shortly after it was designed. The main Coast Artillery fortification at Savannah was Fort Screven, which ceased to be a CAC post as of February, 1924. This insignia was offered for sale in the BB& B 1928 catalog. References are difficult to find.
This item came from the Robert Borrell Artillery Collection, and it was his habit of recording on his pieces the dates and or prices paid for his reference; he paid $300.00 back when, no date given.
