CALEB IN TOWN. A Story For Children,  By The Author Of The Rolllo Books,  BOSTON: PUBLISHED BY CROCKER & BREWSTER, 1839.  Hardcover, black cloth, 180 pages, engraved frontispiece.

A book intended for the instruction of children base on Christian truths, as most books of this period. The frontispiece is a well done engraving of two young boys on the dock looking out to the harbor, presumably Boston.

Condition is very good, with some chipping to spine cloth, other wise light wear, very minor foxing within to pages; a nice tight copy.

The inner flyleaf is signed by Solomon Lincoln, Jr. of Hingham, Mass. A local historian of some note; member of the New England Genealogical Society, Mass. Historical Society, American Antiquarian Society, Bunker Hill Monument Association.  State representative, and senator.  President Tyler appointed him as Marshall for the State of Mass in 1841. He was a correspondent with presidents; Abraham Lincoln wrote him about his own genealogical interest in family ties, later finding that he was related to a Hingham descendant.

Size is 4 x 6 inches approximately.
