George F. Dempster enlisted in January, 1862 as a fifer in Co. “F,” 97th New York Infantry. He died of disease at Annapolis, Maryland on November 14, 1862 (typhoid fever).
He is seen here in this vignette wearing his infantry musician’s frock, while holding his fifer. The company letter is affixed to the front of his cap.
