There is a weak ID in pencil on the back, but interestingly this officer appears to be wearing a British Campaign medal.

CDV – Lieutenant’s Image Taken In Frederick, Maryland.
This officer appears to be an in the infantry, by the light colored shoulder straps, and under better light and close up 1st lieutenant stripes are visible. The medal on the right side of his chest appears to be a British Campaign medal, perhaps a recent award from the Crimean War. The other is unknown.
Taken by Markenson’s Gallery, Frederick, Maryland. Pencil notation reads, “from Patterson, N.J. album,” and there is an ID that appears to be ” John Moor”. Two possibles are noted on the back as well.
