CDV Signed – 1st Lieutenant Orson T. Southworth 28th New York Infantry.
This signed image of Lieutenant Southworth reads, “Orson T. Southworth ‘ 1st Lieut. 28 /N.Y. Vols.”
He enlisted on April 30, 1861, as a sergeant in Co. D. He was captured at Staunton, Va. on August 8th, 1862, mostly likely on a reconnoiter, the day before the regiments biggest battle a Cedar Mountain. No date of parole given in records. he had promotions of 2nd and 1st Lieutenant. The regiment mustered out with the regimente on June 2, 1863.
