Description

In this fine quality and conditioned carte de visite taken by Rockwood, New York, we see a gentleman gazing out on the Hudson River with the shore battery guns neatly protected in their wooden ‘houses.’

Battery Knox was established in 1778 during the American Revolution and an American stronghold; named for General Washington’s chief of artillery Henry Knox.

A nice view.
