The image very well could have been taken in the early Civil War period or late 1850’s. This musician is wearing his full dress band uniform, militia style 50’s shako and an upright saxophone.  There is no information for the bandsman, or the photographer.  Has the original gilt bordered mat.

Very good condition, with some water staining on the mat, upper left corner torn away.

5.5 x 7.5 inches in the oval as viewed.  Overall 8×10
