A nice example of an officer’s Hardee Hat bullion insignia. The bullion work on black velvet has a high relief look, with a even toning overall. A little bit of red material accentuates the eagle’s tongue. The backing is a dark blue cloth. The mounting loops have broken away from the tin backing under the cloth.
A great untouched look. I consider these some of the nicest insignia produced for the Army uniform in the mid 19th Century.
