1/6 Plate image with light use of tinting.
A pleasing image of a young federal private in unbuttoned sack coat, a handkerchief tied around his neck, and a 1st Army Corps badge pinned on the left side breast (image is viewed in reverse). His canteen is still slung over the shoulder for his picture, and a Colt (appears to be a ’51 Navy) revolver tucked into his waist belt.
A great relaxed pose with his leg crossed over the other. with arm resting on a table. Cheeks are lightly tinted.
There is some chipping of the emulsion in several small areas, but not overly affecting the great impact of this image. Has a leatherette case with some chipping on open edges, and repaired hinge area. the inner hinge area is opened up and needs repair.
Very good condition.
