Civil War Unit Marked Cap Box -SOLD

Description

A very nice example that has been issued and used by a unit during the Civil War.  Stamped on the lower flap area, “G  55”, and complete with nearly all of the original wool fleece, and the original cone pick.  There are no other markings.

Showing obvious use, but no dry, flaking, etc.

This came from a show, so hard to pinpoint the origin of state/ unit.  Love to know it was the Massachusetts 55th regiment.
