This pewter coat sized button came from the collection of Frank Kravic.
This pewter button came from the collection of Frank Kravic, who along with George Neumann, Co-authored the Collector’s Encyclopedia of the American Revolution. Mr. Kravic would identify many of his relic where found at historic sites; this one coming from Crown Point. His code on this button, “C.P. A.7. 37” and is painted on as nearly all examples observed of which we have had many over the years.
The button has a decorative pattern on the front. The bale is in tact. No markings are visible as to maker. The look of the button is definitely 18th Century.
Oxidized but still retaining good form, and definition of pattern.
See a few other examples of dug buttons and one buckle we purchased with this button elsewhere on the site.
