This cabinet photo was taken by William King, Denver, Colorado, circa 1889.  The entire regiment had been stationed at Fort Clark, Texas, by November of 1889.

Positioned at “on guard,” the company is in a tight phalanx, wearing fatigue uniform, armed with Springfield “Trapdoor” Rifles with bayonets fixed. The company NCO’s  stand behind.

The image quality is very good; measures 5 x 8 inches.

Not a commonly seen pose for infantry in the Indian Wars era.
