Description
This small stamped brass frame (or porte) with floral design, was made by Dean & Emerson, Worcester, Mass, circa 1860; and sold exclusively by E & H.T. Anthony, Photographs, New York.
The brass retains a good deal of the original gilt wash, brass wire hanger/stand, and the backing card with printed information on makers and photographer (as well as a printed vignette of a full rigged sailing ship). Stamped name and address on either side of the guides that hold the CDV image. These are bent with age, but not badly, and still functional. A modification was made by a previous owner, placing a hole in upper frame for hanging permenantly.
A scarce photo/CDV accessory not commonly found.
