A glitzy gilt and enameled badge from the LaFayette Post in New York City.
This local post in New York City was named the LaFayette Post 140, G.A.R. and adopted a red enameled five pointed star suspended by the letter “L” as it post symbol. The use of the typical G.A.R. brooch with a National ribbon with flag, may have been worn to a National Encampment.
A miniature G.A.R. star is mounted onto the main badge of enamel with the letter “L” being used as the link to the suspension ring and ribbon. The eagle brooch is marked with the patent date and camp fire scene.

Height 3.5 inches, and 36mm point to point at the widest.
