President Truman’s communique to the soldiers under the command of General Mark Clark, commanding 15th AG.
Dated 3 May, 1945, and just days prior to the entire surrender of the German Army at Rheims, France, President Truman’s letter/communique to the officer and men of the 15th Army Group, congratulates them on their final victory over the surrender of German forces in Italy.
Issued by 15th AG Headquarters and counter signed (facsimile) by General Mark Clark.
The final surrender of German forces in Italy came about by the Chief SS Officer Karl Wolff and his secret meeting with two Allied generals, Brigadiers Lyman L. Lemnitzer, (U.S. Army), and Terrance Airey (British), in Switzerland.
First one of these communiques I have had from President Harry S. Truman.
Fine condition. Has faint fold creases.
