Identified to a L.P. Watson of the Coast Artillery Corps in the WWI era.
Between the years 1903- 21, the coast artilleryman qualified on “A” Course rifle ranges firing at 200-300 yards, since the CA was only using rifles in a defensive posture.
This badge was restricted to those who qualified for the badge on an annual basis.
On the reverse is scratched on the name of the soldier who wore this badge, “L.P. WAT/son.” Watson did not leave enough space to get all the same size lettering, and added the “SON” below.
45mm long. Pin back with open catch.
Shows light wear- and fine.
