Iron Fragment Souvenir from President Ulysses Grant’s Casket

Iron Fragment Souvenir from President Ulysses Grant’s Casket.  This 2 inch section of iron, whose purpose is unclear, was identified as, “U.S. Grant’s Casket Troy NY 1885  Doc. Parker” by it’s original paper label wrapped around the pointed iron section. Some time ago, a piece of masking tape was used to hold the original paper to the iron, itself now beginning to show the rust coming through.

People will collect anything of note- ain’t it great!
