Ladies of the G.A.R. Past President’s Gold Medal SOLD

This fancy Ladies of the G.A.R. gold medal is nicely engraved decoratively, as well as having an engraved presentation on the reverse. The pin bar has the letters “F.C.L.” engraved meaning, Fidelity, Charity, and Loyalty. The drop below the pin bar bears the name, “Past President, with the lower medal bearing the official seal of the Ladies of the G.A.R. The reverse is engraved, “Presented To P.P. Helen G. Ladd By Sergt. Stanley S. Sturgeon Circle, No 35, L of GAR, Jan. 26, 1938.” Overall height is three inches.

There is a makers mark on the reverse of the pin bar, but is double struck on sections of the circumference and hard to read.  “Gold” is stamped in the center.  I suspect the gold content is of a lower nature. Typical pin bar of the 20’s on with the locking catch.  In excellent condition.

I have not found any information regarding the Sergt. Stanley S. Sturgeon Circle.
