Description

A rare find for this Mills revolver belt is to see it complete with the original web sword/saber hangers, brass hanger for mounting the .38 revolver holster, and an eagle officer belt plate.

The blue webbing retains most of the original dark blue color, showing just the slightest wear, and the hangers are in the same color and condition as the belt. The belt is 2 1/4 inches wide, the hangers are 1 inch.  There are 45 loop for .38 caliber ammunition.

This belt was likely purchased direct from the Mills & Orndorff firm (as there are no eyelets on the belt) by a militia or National Guard officer. The brass wire hooks are mounted over the top welt of the belt, and brass mounting hooks are shaped in a way to hold tight to the welts.  The U.S. belts used the eyelets for mounting.

The eagle buckle is marked on the back, “ANSON MILLS PAT. FEB 1. 81.” The brass adjustment mounts are marked with the various patent dates from 1867 to 1894.

Large white painted stencil letters for the owner (i presume) are “BAS.”

Excellent condition.
