An original Cavalry Saber belt with US buckle and Hangers
The Model 1874 Mounted Saber belt was the issue 1874 Waist belt with the addition of two brass belt slides (one having the dismount hook for saber), and two separate saber hangers.
The belt of black bridle leather as well as the hangers, are in fine + condition, the belt having Rock Island Arsenal Markings and inspectors marks. The leather is overall fine with some typical crackling and wear, some of the finish leather shows heavier wear on the longer saber hanger. All leather is supple and you can’t ask for much better.
The 1874 rectangular belt plate with oval and “U.S.” is an original, the keeper has an inspector mark as well. Complete with sliding belt loop.
A great example of the cavalry saber belt of the Indian Wars period.
