This finish is stunning on this cast brass crossed cannon insignia.
This is another example of a 1902-1922 Coast Artillery officer’s saddle cloth insignia with a near flawless bronze finish. Made of cast brass or bronze, the insignia has an applied center CAC shell, held with two wires folded over on the reverse. This maker no doubt allowed for substitution of either CAC or Field Artillery centers on their saddle cloth insignia.
The mounting loops are heavy duty. Obviously this was a quality piece of insignia, unfortunately no maker markings.
The orange tag from the last collector, was left to indicate the purchase of this insignia coming from the Duncan Campbell Collection.
3 /8 Inches wide. The best one could hope for.
Ex. Robert Burrell Collection.
