A nice looking visor cap with scarcer green mohair banding.
This khaki summer weight visor cap has a scarcer green mohair banding, which is seen occasionally compared to the common caps with matching color mohair trim. There is a number written in on the crown protective shield, “6218.” This may be a officer’s number. If so, the number is Wiley Vinton Carter, who retired sometime after WWII as a Colonel.
The cap appears to be an unissued piece showing hardly any wear what generally described as age handling. The crown has a thin metal ring stiffener that hold the shape. The cap eagle has no hallmark.
Some staining on the top of the cap had occurred, and I have no idea what the substance is. It may clean, but can’t guarantee that. You can see however that displayed, the cap is super in appearance.
