Taken Circa – 1900, just beside the Old Cadet Chapel (1836).
An old post card included with this photograph of the West Point Library and Chapel, is dated 1906 by its postmark, so I know that the building was still standing up to that point. Obviously I found little information concerning the building other than it stands next to the old Cadet Chapel (in its original location).
There is no photographer information, but having come in a group of photos of building as West Point, I have concluded to place them in the 1900 era.
The image is superb in condition and quality. It was taken in the spring as the leaves are just returning; a wheelchair of some quality is parked outside, and the lack of anything behind the building suggests that the Hudson River flows behind it.
Measuring 10.5 x 14.5 inches and un-mounted, this is most suited for framing.
The postcard shows this this building with the Old Cadet Chapel just next door.
