Identified NYSM officer, finely color tinted from New York City.
John A. Baker was 48 years of age when he enlisted as a 1st Lt. into the 7th New York Infantry (State Militia) in April of 1861. He was mustered out in June of the same year at New York City.
Record of service shows he was an ordnance officer in the 7th, and the flaming bomb insignia is visible on his forage cap.
This well done color tinting to his carte de visite, has no photographer back mark. Only the number scratched on the negative is seen at the upper right corner.
Have a single sheet of his record with this same likeness used (not this cdv) downloaded.
Very good – fine condition.
