This Zouave stands at rest with his Remington RB rifle with bayonet, in a great tinted image.
At first glance, I believed this zouave to be French, from the 1870 period. Being armed with a Remington Rolling Block rifle and what appears to be a buckle for the 1855 Rifleman’s belt, I’m not quite sure. I know that the Remington RB’s were widely contracted for all over the world, and that the buckle could be French as well, so the call is yours.
A fabulous job of hand painting this photographic image.
No photographer information, which naturally would have been the clincher!
