Scarce unused Mailing box.
This is a mailing box made of pine with the label attached, “Americana Gift Box.” It states it was sold for overseas mailing only, and made for Bundle Shipping Service, Boston, Mass. The box label states that in effect May 1944, The use of wooden shipping containers is restricted to packages for overseas, and less than 5 lbs.
Surprisingly, the label and the box are in excellent order for something so ephemeral. This is the first of its kind that we have encountered. This one may have survived being a counter display item in the period of WWII.
A neat display item, generated from the Homefront for the boys overseas.
